This was stated by the president of Iturem- Leopoldo Lucas, who added that the city that houses the Iguazu Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature – closes the first month of the year with figures that consolidate its position as the star destination of the region and a marked rebound in international tourism.

With an average occupancy of 85%, and more than 172,000 visits to the Iguazú Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world – the Iguazú destination not only maintains its historical appeal, but also shows a remarkable evolution in the profile of its visitors.

The most significant data of this period arises from the records of entry to the Iguazú National Park. Foreign visitors already represent more than 40% of the total, marking a relevant year-on-year increase that confirms the recovery of the international market. This flow of tourists from various latitudes brings a global dynamic to the destination, positively impacting the entire service chain.

It should be noted that the entrances to Cataratas, during the month of January, amounted to more than 172,000 visitors, thus concluding in a daily average of almost 6,000 entrants.

And thus marking the path of a new year that is promising.

The National, faithful to his favorite destination

Despite international growth, national tourism continues to be the main engine, predominating in the local scene.

Argentines continue to choose missionary biodiversity and the majesty of the Falls as their preferred option for summer vacations.

On the other hand, the impact of the tourist flow is not limited to the Falls and the more than 30 attractions. The destination is going through a moment of great social effervescence, highlighting the local gastronomy that is always imposed in holiday scenarios.

Also, bars and leisure centers live intense nights, becoming the ideal meeting point for both locals and travelers.

“The large number of visits to our Falls and 85% occupancy, are the result of a joint effort between the public and private sectors to keep Iguazú at the top. Seeing such a solid foreign presence again fills us with optimism for the rest of the year,” said Leopoldo Lucas, president of ITUREM.

And he stressed “again we want to thank all the tourists who choose us, each of them is important to continue growing as a destination, as a city open to the world and as the cradle of one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature that we are.”
