The Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, announced that, during the first two months of 2026, Mexico recorded the arrival of 16.85 million international visitors,
Which represented an increase of 9.3 percent compared to the same period of 2025.
“The fact that more and more people choose to visit Mexico reflects the confidence in the tourist experience that our country offers: a diverse, quality and constantly strengthening offer, which positions us as one of the most attractive destinations internationally,” said the official.
He specified that, during this period, foreign exchange income for international visitors reached 6,746 million dollars, which represented an increase of 2.2 percent compared to the same period of 2025.
“International tourism revenues continue to grow, confirming the sector’s positive impact on the national economy and its role as an engine of development and well-being for millions of people in our country,” he said.
Among other places that attract international tourists, Chichen Itzá – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World – receives more than two million visitors a year, positioning itself as the most visited archaeological site in Mexico.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Tourism said that actions aimed at consolidating tourism as a generator of Shared Prosperity will continue to be promoted, promoting regional development, the strengthening of local economies and the expansion of opportunities for Mexicans.
Finally, he pointed out that in 2026, a key year for Mexico’s international projection, promotion strategies, market diversification and improvement of tourism supply will be strengthened, with the aim of expanding the benefits of tourism throughout the country.
