Foz airport recorded a 29% increase in movement in the first half of the year and showed the highest proportional growth among airports with more than one million passengers
Foz do Iguaçu International Airport achieved the highest growth rate in the movement of passengers between Brazilian airports that received more than one million passengers in 2025.
Data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) indicate that the terminal recorded an increase of 29% in the first half of 2026, compared to the same period of the previous year, consolidating the municipality as one of the main tourism and air connectivity hubs in the country.
According to information from the Diario de Foz, between January and June of this year, 1,369,288 passengers passed through the airport, compared to 1,062,774 counted in the first six months of 2025. The performance placed Foz do Iguaçu in the national leadership in proportional growth, surpassing airports such as Porto Alegre, Natal and Rio de Janeiro/Galeão.
The progress is attributed to the expansion of the air network, the strengthening of tourism activity and the increase in the demand for national and international travel. The municipality continues as one of the main tourist destinations in Brazil, driven by attractions such as the Iguazu Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world (shared between Argentina 80% and Brazil 20%), the Binational Itaipú and the strategic location in the Triple Border.
The growth of air movement also reinforces the importance of the airport for the regional economy, contributing to the increase in the flow of visitors, the generation of jobs and the strengthening of the tourism, trade and services sectors. The terminal is expected to maintain the pace of expansion during the second half, after the recovery and warming of the Brazilian civil aviation market.
