Just a few days ago, the Chinese capital experienced its first snowfall of 2026, and in this context, the Great Wall – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World – covered by a blanket of snow, offered a unique landscape and unique charm for its visitors.

The Great Cold, the last of the twenty-four solar terms, arrives around January 20 of each year. With it, a cycle is closed and the beginning of a new one is announced.

During this period, cold waves advance frequently southward, making it the coldest period of the year in most of China. The strong winds, the low temperatures and the persistent snow cover make up an authentic winter landscape.

And according to CGTN, after the Great Cold, the net absorption of solar radiation begins to increase gradually, a process that becomes more noticeable due to weather changes. At the same time, rainfall in much of the south of the country recorded a slight increase compared to the previous period.
