Peru shone again at the World Travel Market Latin America (WTMLA), the most relevant tourism fair in Brazil and a benchmark in the region, which was held from April 14 to 16. In this edition, the Peruvian offer was focused on various experiences of nature, adventure and sustainable tourism that were of interest to the Brazilian public.
The Peruvian stand sported elements of the three geographical areas of the country – the coast, the Andes and the jungle -, a design that invited you to live a trip through the different Peruvian destinations. Among them stood out the Amazon – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world. And Machu Picchu – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The delegation was composed of representatives of the Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Export and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) and the 20 Peruvian tourism companies that participated in the event.
One of the novelties was the promotion of the Chachapoyas destination as part of a diversification strategy in the Brazilian market. Therefore, a presentation aimed at Brazilian travel agents was also organized to promote this destination that has multiple cultural, nature and adventure attractions.
In addition, Peruvian tour operators presented little-known travel experiences in Brazil such as hikes to the Huaraz lagoons, tours that allow you to enjoy the gastronomy in Arequipa, visits to archaeological sites of millennial cultures in Trujillo, Chiclayo and Chachapoyas, and other travel experiences in Peru.
At the fair, PROMPERÚ, an entity attached to Mincetur, also presented its new virtual assistant with AI for travel planning, which offers a personalized experience in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
Likewise, the commercial economic advisor of PROMPERÚ in Brazil, Fernando Albareda, participated as a speaker in a conversation on sustainable tourism organized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), an invitation that was made to Peru for the progress it is making in sustainability and for leading the policies linked to this issue in the region.
It is important to mention that Brazil is a strategic market for the tourism promotion of Peru. Currently, it ranks sixth in terms of tourist flow to Peru worldwide and fifth place in South America. In addition, in 2025, the country received 212,365 Brazilian tourists, which represents a growth of 15% compared to 2024.
