As part of his first official tour to the Asian country as head of US diplomacy, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the Taj Mahal on Monday with his wife Jeanette Dousdebes Rubio.
In the photograph the couple poses smiling in front of one of the most important monuments of New Delhi: the Taj Mahal, architectural jewel and symbol of India before the world.
“It is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World,” Rubio said about the Taj Mahal, an emblematic white marble mausoleum built in the 17th century by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.
The photographs were shared by the US ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, who highlighted the historical and cultural value of the monument.
Before this tourist getaway, Rubio maintained his optimism about a possible agreement with Iran after US President Donald Trump moderated expectations by saying on Sunday that he had asked his negotiators not to “rush.”
Rubio’s trip was marked by important diplomatic meetings and debates on strategic issues of global scope, but the images of the Taj Mahal were what had the most impact on the networks.
