Malaysia won the 2020 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award in the “Tourism for All” category. The country whose capital, Kuala Lumpur, is one of the New 7 Wonders Cities was awarded for the branding and marketing efforts to be a premier tourist destination.

The PATA Gold Awards are a recognition of excellence, innovation, and the best tourism standards in Asia Pacific’s travel and tourism industry since 1984. This year’s recognition went to the Virtual Tourism for Senior Citizens initiative carried out by the Taylor’s University, which will further boost the country’s tourism sector.

Tourism Malaysia General Director, Datuk Musa Yusof, stated that “we hope this year’s achievement can inspire and encourage our tourism industry to move forward with more sustainable and responsible initiatives in line with Covid-19 recovery measures”.
