The Ministry of Tourism informed the official numbers left by the first month of the year for the country that hosts Chichen Itza, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Even though numbers are not as good as the previous year, the entire sector is glad to be able to receive visitors from all over the world.
According to Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, during January the country maintained an average hotel occupancy rate of 22.8%. Out of 12 representative sites, Villahermosa reported the highest occupancy rate with 32.3%, followed by Cancun with 28.9%.
Chichen Itza is open to the public from September 21, working with reduced hours and limited access capacity.
