Peru’s government announced the launch of the National Plan for the Reactivation of Tourism in the country that hosts Machu Picchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
According to the official release, the plan aims to develop several sustainable destinations along the country while positioning Peru as a safe place with first class tourism products.
The head of the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry, Claudia Cornejo, informed that the government aims to improve the sector’s competitiveness by strengthening its institutions and the public-private partnership: “this sector has been severely affected by the pandemic and we have already drawn up a national strategy for the reactivation of tourism”.
The plan’s estimated implementation period is 3 year, since it is based on the new post-pandemic tourist demands such as sustainable non massive tourism.
