The Peruvian Congress voted in favor of moving the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture to the city of Cusco with the aim of being in the heart of Machu Picchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The project was promoted by the president of the Commission for Culture and Cultural Heritage, Alcides Rayme Marín, who argued that the idea of moving the headquarters to the capital of the country is explained because Machu Picchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, is located in that department.
During his presentation in Congress, Rayme Martín stated that “due to the nature of the Ministry of Culture, it must be established in an area of national openness where it is closer to the most important historical and cultural manifestations of our country, in order to strengthen the mechanisms that allow rescuing and preserving this heritage”.
