The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Witzel, his secretary of Tourism, Otavio Leite, and the president of Rock in Rio, Roberto Medina, signed an agreement to launch the TurisRock campaign, which seeks to take advantage of this music festival – held in September and October- in order to promote the main tourist attractions of Brazil.

This agreement aims to encourage more than 700.000 people that are estimated to arrive for the festival, to visit the municipalities of Paraty, Angra dos Reis, Buzios and Cabo Frio. In addition, discounts of up to 30% on tourist accommodation will be offered.

The president of Rock in Rio, Roberto Medina, said that the city needs to “prepare itself for tourists”, and while he stressed being prepared to “receive tourists from around the world,” he also emphasized the importance of the agreement signed because “it stimulates the local economy of the municipalities that are as attractive as the regional capital”.
