The country that hosts Jeju Island, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, reinforces its commitment to the environmental cause and launched a new campaign that aims to take care of the planet while on vacation.
In a joint work between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization the “Inconvenient Travel Tips” campaign was launched last week to promote eco-friendly travel methods for the upcoming summer season.
According to the official website, “the campaign suggests amending one’s travel habits such as thinking about ways to reduce disposable products, minimizing souvenir packaging, cutting down on one’s carbon footprint by sticking to trails and footpaths, and using eco-friendly products throughout the trip”.
The campaign also promotes the “Inconvenient Travel Tips Challenge” through the participants’ social media that invites people to share their sustainable tips with others. A public vote will be held on the campaign official website to select 20 winners for the Brilliant Traveler Award as well as other 200 additional winners to be given travel bags and eco-friendly kits.
