The stated home to Chichén Itzá, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, is recording a solid growth in the tourism numbers and is confident about the future of the sector.

According to the State Tourism Development Secretary (SEFOTUR in spanish), domestic air connectivity has recovered by 70% and international connectivity by 11% and this figure is expected to grow during summer holidays.

The head of SEFOTUR, Michelle Fridman Hirsch, pointed out that saying “that it is very positive is a bit risky, at a time when the industry has had such a bad time, but it is undoubtedly an encouraging outlook and we are hoping to continue growing gradually and recovering steadily”.
