The city that hosts Table Mountain, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, has recently announced its partnership with the Western Cape Province to restart the cruise industry in the region.
The official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and Western Cape Province, WESGRO, announced the official launch of a project to capitalize and promote the growing cruise tourism trend.
Cruise Cape Town is the project in charge of the domestic and international cruise route development in the province and that foresees the collaboration between partners in both the public and private sectors.
According to the Western Cape Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities, David Maynier, “while cruises have not yet resumed, the pre-corona trajectory of the sector as well as the continued interest of travellers to book cruises and travel as soon as it is safe to do so, means that rebuilding the cruise sector in the Western Cape is a key opportunity for us now”.
