As a way to reactivate the sector in a safe way, the national government has launched a “Green Pass” for citizens and tourists to visit theaters, cinemas, museums and archeological sites such as the Colosseum, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
Nearly 50 million Italians already have the Green Pass, since it is also required for entering gyms, indoor pools and the indoor sections of restaurants, bars and cafes.
For citizens to obtain the certificate, they must show they “have received at least one dose of a vaccine approved for use in the European Union, recovered from coronavirus in the past six months or have negative lab results from a test done within the previous 48 hours”.
Recently the country’s Cabinet approved a new rule to make the Green Pass obligatory from September 1 for those taking flights, high-speed or inter-regional trains or ships sailing between regions.
