The country that hosts Petra, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, strengthens its expectations for the tourism sector since the ease of restrictions and the comeback of international tourists.
According to authorities of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), the country’s tourism sector is expected to reach its full potential by 2023 if the sanitary context stays the same. In a joint work, both institutions recently allowed the opening up to domestic tourism, and then to the Gulf and neighboring countries, in order to facilitate border movement.
The managing director of the Jordan Tourism Board, Dr. Abed Al-Razzaq Arabiyat, informed that they “expect the return of international tourism during August, September and October after overcoming several obstacles”. The JTB has also launched the “Breathe” summer marketing campaign to target tourists, particularly families, from Gulf countries.
From July 1, Jordan is implementing the second phase which has allowed tourist facilities to reopen at full capacity. The third phase will begin on September 1 and will be focused on attracting international tourists.
