Quang Ninh province is working to develop rural tourism as a way to help local producers while attracting more visitors to the home of Ha Long Bay, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, with the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme.
Quang Ninh has set a goal to have modern industry and service sectors and become one of the region’s dynamic development hubs by 2025. The project that started in 2013, now looks forward to becoming an “important economic development programme carried out in tandem with new-style countryside building and agricultural restructuring during the 2021 – 2025 period”.
According to local authorities, “the OCOP is an economic development programme for rural areas and focuses on increasing internal power and values, and is also to help with the national target programme on new-style rural area building”. OCOP products have generated an average of 22 million – 31 million USD in annual revenue for the province and now pretends to expand its prosperity for the entire country.
