The Secretary of Tourism of Mexico Miguel Torruco Marqués, informed that the entry of foreign exchange for international visitors from January to May 2024 was 14 thousand 975 million dollars, this is 8.1% more compared to the same period of 2023; also exceeding 35.1% of January to May 2019, which were 11 thousand 81 million dollars.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) reported that based on the results of the International Travelers Survey published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), from January to May 2024, 18 million 128 thousand international tourists entered to the country, which represents 6.1% more compared to what was captured during January-May of 2023.
He pointed out that the entrance of foreign exchange for international tourists in the first five months of the year was 13 thousand 903 million dollars, which represents 7.4% more compared to the same period of 2023; also exceeding 37.3% plus the currencies of the same period of 2019, which were 10 thousand 126 million dollars.
During January-May of 2024, 10 million 524 thousand tourists of air hospitalization arrived in Mexico, this represents an increase of 5.7% more compared to the same period of 2023, also surpassing with 21.1% the internment tourists via air same period of 2019.
Torruco Marqués reported that the entry of foreign exchange through airists of air via air between January-May 41.4% compared to what was captured in that same period of 2019.
Tourists arrive in Mexico attracted by its warm beaches, and in Yucatan the favorite place of visitors is Chichén Itza, one of the main archaeological sites of the Mayan culture, which since 2007 has been part of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

In addition, the entrance of currencies by cruise hikers during January-May of the year, amounted to 381.9 million dollars, surpassing with 32.5% more what was captured in the same period of 2019, when 288.2 million dollars were recorded.
From January to May 2024, the balance of the balance for international visitors was 10 thousand 983.6 million dollars, this is 3.2% more than what was recorded in the same period of 2023; also exceeding 53.3% the balance captured in the first five months of 2019.
