The Latin American and Caribbean Music Festival, within the framework of the Latin American Art Season, was inaugurated on September 21 in the 751 Art District of Beijing, the Chinese capital. Three bands from Mexico, Panama and Costa Rica, along with a dance company from Chile, delighted the audience with their presentations for two days.

The Latin American Art and Music Season is an important mark of cultural exchange between China, Latin America and the Caribbean. Since its first edition, in 2013, more than 700 artists from 24 countries in the region have been invited to present their shows and participate in cultural and tourist exchange activities in China.

Visitors who arrive in China from Latin America and the Caribbean expressed their fascination with learning more about Chinese culture and its attractions, such as the Great Wall – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, which never ceases to amaze people and outsiders.

The Festival

Latin American music and dance have their own charm. The festival brought together different styles of music, such as rock metal, reggae, jazz, funk and pop music, by the Mexican group Píldora, the Panamanian Entre Nos and the Costa Rican Kadeho.

At the same time, the dancers of Bafcachile, a Chilean folkloric ballet, captivated the attendees with their striking native costumes and their elegant and graceful dances to the rhythm of ethnic music, leaving a deep impression.

This year’s edition, jointly organized by the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd., includes a second round of presentations in Jinan, capital of the eastern Chinese province of Shandong.
