In Vietnam, Ha Long Bay, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature and World Heritage Site, is one of the favorite places of tourists.
China led as the main source of tourists, with 1.95 million arrivals, representing 25.4% of the total. It was followed by South Korea, with 1.58 million visitors (20.6%). Other important markets included Taiwan (China), with 440,000 arrivals, and the United States, with 323,000. Japan, Cambodia, Australia, India, Malaysia and Thailand were also among the top ten issuing countries.
The flow of tourists from China grew by an impressive 56.7% compared to last year, while Japan recorded an increase of 18.9%. Taiwan (China) and the United States showed more moderate increases, of 5.2% and 7.2%, respectively. Among the countries of Southeast Asia, the Philippines stood out, with an increase of 98.3%, Cambodia, with 79.6%, and Laos, with 44.7%. Singapore, on the other hand, experienced a slight drop of 0.9%.
European markets maintained sustained growth, especially those benefiting from Vietnam’s visa waiver policy. The United Kingdom saw an increase of 20.7% in its visitors, followed by France (24.7%), Germany (18.8%), Italy (32.6%), Spain (12.9%), Denmark (12.7%), Sweden (16.3%) and Norway (11.5%). Russia stood out with a surprising increase of 110.9%, consolidating itself as the largest European issuer, with more than 166,000 arrivals in the quarter.
In addition, three countries with temporary visa exemptions, in force from March 1 to December 31 as part of Vietnam’s tourism stimulus program, also recorded increases: Poland with 48.8%, Switzerland with 16.6%, and the Czech Republic with 1.5%.
The National Tourism Authority of Vietnam plans to launch seven major international promotional campaigns in 2025, with the goal of attracting between 22 and 23 million international visitors this year.
