Next Friday night will be the famous Stations of the Cross in the Roman Colosseum, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. This year’s meditations will be written by Eugenia Bonetti, a Consolata nun who has been working with victims of human trafficking for more than 25 years now. This is one of the most important events of Holy Week in Italy. Rome celebrates the Via Crucis presided by Pope Francis from the Palatine hill and takes place in one of the most iconic scenarios in the world: the Roman Colosseum.
The tour takes place inside the ancient amphitheater, remembering the sufferings of the first Christians. Then it continues ahead of the Arch of Trajan and concludes on the Palatine Hill.
With the Stations of the Cross, the Pope remembers, along with the thousands of people who visit the Italian capital every year for this celebration, the different stages and moments lived by Jesus since he was apprehended until his crucifixion and burial.
