The authorities want to combat the massive arrival of tourists opening all night to allow access to more visitors. Up to 22.000 tourists a day walk on average around the Taj Mahal, a figure that sometimes reaches 50.000 – and in the past it was shot at 70.000 people.

After the recent measures, which penalized those who extended their visit to the Agra monument beyond three hours, India will now try another strategy, which includes extending the visiting hours and keep it open all night.

It was already possible to visit the monument at night, only the days that coincided with the full moon, as well as the two previous and two later days, which allowed 400 lucky visitors to access at such a special moment.

But now, according to the country’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, Prahlad Singh Patel, the monument will open daily between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. The solution is part of an Incredible India project to extend the visiting hours of ten of its most popular tourist attractions.
