The Archaeological Park where the Roman Colosseum is located, home to one of the 7 Wonders of the World, witnessed a transcendental discovery. A team of archaeologists were working on the renovation of the Emperor Nero’s palace when they found a secret room that was buried 2.000 years ago, with walls decorated with animal frescoes and mythological figures.

The director of the site, Alfonsina Russo, celebrated the new discovery and assured that it will serve to «narrate the atmosphere of the first years of the reign of Nero».

The team began a process of recovery and renovation of the camera. «We hope to finish the work by the end of this year,» said the professor and leader of the team; «The room is well preserved, but needs to be cleaned and restored» she continued. However, the space is buried in tons of sand and dirt and the team fears that the work could compromise the stability of the entire palace.
