Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign most likely re-scheduled for 2021

Malaysia Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, announced that the Visit Malaysia 2020 tourism campaign has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. This campaign expected to receive millions of tourist, especially to the New 7 Wonder City of Kuala Lumpur 

 

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said the cancellation is with immediate effect, and will involve the freezing of all over-the-counter and online services for the ministry’s Tourism Licensing Division.

 

The minister also said in line with the announcement by the National Security Council regarding the two-week movement control order, that all tourist accommodations would be permitted to operate at a minimum level.

 

The Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign expected to welcome 28.1 million tourists with earnings reaching MYR92.2 billion this year. Tourism Malaysia also leveraged on regional social media influencers and their fan-base to promote tourist destinations in Malaysia.

 

“Let us all pray for the betterment of the country and for the situation to return to normal,” the Tourism Minister added.
