It is composed of the secretaries of tourism of the States of Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche and Yucatán, home to one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, Chichén Itzá. The main objective is to increase the arrival of visitors to the country through different products, training and tourism promotion at the national and international level.
To achieve an effective integration of the tourism product, the new alliance divides the territory into 6 different regions: Mérida, Capital of the Mayan World, Cenotes and Haciendas, Riviera Yucatán, Ruta Puuc and Mayan villages, and Puerto Maya.
The cycle of online talks began with Yucatán, since the Mundo Maya México initiative was promoted by the Secretary of Tourism Development of that state. In addition to promoting the natural attractions of Yucatan, the great tourist infrastructure with more than 14 thousand rooms, the great air connectivity with Mérida and its recent recognition as a safe destination by the World Travel and Tourism Council were also pointed out.
The Secretary of Tourism of Yucatán, Michelle Fridman, affirmed that this new alliance “will promote regional tourism among the 5 states, and the sum of the connectivity of the five entities will make us stronger.”
