Mexico, as well as having one of the New 7 Wonders of the World -Chichén Itzá-, has among its destinations dozens of Magical Towns. In an official ceremony, the Ministry of Tourism launched the National Strategy of Magical Towns, which aims to promote the 121 iconic destinations because of their cultural heritage.

According to the authorities, the strategy focuses on fair and balanced development between communities and service providers with the intention of democratizing the benefits that tourism brings. It also seeks to innovate and diversify the sustainable tourism offer.

The new tourism promotion strategy establishes that the states that have destinations that have been awarded the title of Magical Town, must establish at least one of the state strategies that is in accordance with the national project.
