Peru’s New 7 Wonder of the World, Machu Picchu, celebrated its 40th anniversary as a natural protected area in January. The recognition was made by the peruvian state as a way to help protect biodiversity and all the archeological sites.
Even though in the last months of 2020 the Inca Citadel started receiving international visitors, the local government announced that all tourists arriving in the country must comply with a 14-day quarantine in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
In July 2020 the Inca Citadel celebrated its 13th anniversary after its consecration as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
