The Jeju Provincial Government announced the approval of a new casino located in the Jeju Dream Tower resorts, in an attempt to boost the local economy and attract more visitors to the New 7 Wonder of Nature, Jeju Island.
The Lotte Tour Development Co requested to relocate the casino from its current home at Lotte Hotel Jeju to the US$1.4 billion Jeju Dream Tower, which launched hotel and non-gaming operations last December.
According to Jeju Island Tourism Bureau chief, Kim Jae-woong, “the disposition of this change permit can contribute to revitalization of the Jeju economy, which has been stagnant due to coronavirus.”
Jeju’s Casino Business Supervisory Committee stated that the approval takes part in the island’s plan to help revitalize casino companies who have been heavily impacted by the pandemic.
