The country that hosts the Colosseum, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, will hold the first Global Youth Tourism Summit organized in a joint work by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and Italy’s Ministry of Tourism in the framework of its G20 presidency this year.
From August 23 to 25 2021, the italian city of Sorrento will host the first event destined to discover the youth vision of the tourism of the future. The official presentation stated that this will allow young participants to be part of a unique experience, aiming to promote youth engagement in the tourism sector and empower younger generations in driving a more sustainable world.
The event will have a UNWTO General Assembly model and it’s destined for 12-18 year-olds, since “children and youth are not only our future leaders, but important stakeholders of the present, and we can empower and involve them starting today. As the leaders of tomorrow, it is pivotal that young people become involved in shaping and the global vision for the future”, stated the SecretaryGeneral, Zurab Pololikashvili.
