As the number of cases continues to decrease and the vaccination rates grow, the country that hosts the Taj Mahal -one of the New 7 Wonders of the World- announced the beginning of preparations to reopen borders to international tourism.
As a way to encourage foreign tourists to visit the country, India’s government announced a free visa programme until March 31, 2022 destined for short-term trips in the next 6 months.
Even though the country hasn’t officially reopened its borders, the Home Ministry revealed that the opening is expected to be phase-wise to see the development and implications, and expressed that the entry of unvaccinated foreign tourists is still under debate.
