As part of the international Take A Hike Day, hundreds of Capetonians participated while helping to clean the litter off Table Mountain, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
The initiative was carried out last November 17 for the second year in a row and was promoted by the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway to help clean the mountain. During the #TakeAHikeDay, a great number of Capetonians showed up and helped to clean the Wonder as a way to help return the mountain to its former pristine condition.
According to the Table Mountain Executive Head of Brand and Marketing, Giselle Esau, “last year, we were in lockdown and as the cableway, we got some complaints about how dirty the mountain was and we feel that as the City of Cape Town something as iconic as the mountain needs to be protected and looked after by us. So, that’s why we started this initiative because we want the people of this city to look after this iconic landmark”.
