The country that hosts Petra is currently working on the joint promotion of the New 7 Wonder of the World with similar neighbor destinations, such as Al Ula in northwest Saudi Arabia.
In this sense, a committee from the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) held meetings with the Royal Commission for Al Ula (RCU) from January 10 to 14 with the aim of establishing stronger cooperation between the rose-red city of Petra and Al Ula, “as both sites have similar landscape and history, and most importantly, common architecture”.
According to PDTRA Chief Commissioner Suleiman Farajat, “Petra and Al Ula can cooperate in future events, exchange expertise and look for innovative ways of connection. Petra is a well-established international destination and Al Ula is an emerging designation so both sites have the potential to closely work together in the near future in order to have their shares from the international tourism market”.
