The Jiayu Pass is the starting point of a section of the Great Wall built during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
The passage also served as a vital route on the old Silk Road. And from this Monday, July 15, 2024, the famous Jiayu Pass was officially opened for night tours, with themes focused on the culture of the Great Wall and the Silk Road.
For the tour, a combination of laser projections, digital technology and live performances are used, the night tours aim to provide visitors with a unique and immersive light experience.
The Great Wall of China, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World since July 2007, is an old Chinese fortification, built and rebuilt between the 5th century BC and the 16th century. The objective of its construction was to protect the northern border of the Chinese empire during Mongolia the successive imperial dynasties from the attacks of Mongolia and Manchuria.
Counting its ramifications and secondary constructions, it is estimated that the Great Wall is about 21,200 km long from the border with Korea, on the edge of the Yalu River, to the Gobi desert, along an arch that outlines approximately the southern edge of Inner Mongolia, although today only 30% of it is preserved. On average, the wall measures 6 to 7 meters high and 4 to 5 meters wide.
