The Asian market has shown remarkable growth in 2024, with a 66% increase in the arrival of visitors until July in Peru, compared to the same period of the previous year.

It should be noted that, according to the 2019 tourist profile developed by Promperú, travelers from Asia have a high average expense, with figures that exceed 1600 dollars in the case of Chinese visitors, $ 1515 in the Japanese, and $ 1350 in The South Koreans.

PROMPERU continues to implement specific promotion strategies in these key markets, strengthening both the foreign and Peruvian commercial chain, and guiding its efforts also towards the final public. With pillars in culture, nature, adventure, gastronomy and luxury, the goal is to consolidate Peru as an attractive and competitive destination worldwide, increasing the flow, spending and stay of Asian tourists.

Among the favorite places of Asian tourists to visit in Peru, are the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the new wonders of the world and the tours in the Amazon River- one of the new 7 wonders of nature.

 

Promotion

With the objective of establishing strategic alliances and strengthening Peru’s positioning in the Asian market, the Peruvian Promotion Commission for Export and Tourism (Promperú), organized on August 27 the Asia 2024 business wheel.

This event brought together 29 entrepreneurs in the tourism sector of India, China, South Korea and Japan with 41 companies in the Peruvian sector, who offered a wide range of products and services. During the event, more than 500 commercial appointments were completed in which businesses are projected for more than 1 million dollars.

These results reflect the growing interest of Asian markets in Peruvian offer, including destinations, unique experiences and prominent products. In addition, as part of the event, a specialized playful seminar on the destination Peru was carried out, designed to generate a solid remembrance among visitors, thus facilitating the promotion of Peruvian services to the travelers of their respective countries.

 

Asian entrepreneurs travel Peru

Prior to the business wheel, Promperú invited the 28 representatives of tourism companies at a familiarization trip through Peru. These had the opportunity to meet various cities, such as Loreto (where the Tours are carried out by the Amazon River), Arequipa, Cusco and Puno, and visited emblematic places such as Machu Picchu, Moray, the monastery of Santa Catalina, among others, experiencing from First hand the cultural and natural diversity that Peru has to offer.

The impressions of the operators were extremely positive. Among others, Shefali Gupta, representative of the company Amigo Travels Pvt.
