The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, reported that, according to the estimates, for the summer holiday period 2025, the total flow of expected visits will be 48 million 348 thousand tourists.
He said that, from July 14 to Sunday, August 31, an average hotel occupancy of 62.2 percent is expected at the national level, which represents an increase of 2.0 percentage points compared to the same period of 2024.
And he stressed that this movement will generate an economic spill of 818,208 million Mexican pesos for tourist consumption, which represents an increase of 4.9 percent compared to 2024.
Among the favorite places of tourists are the beaches and the Chichen Itzá, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, which was the most visited archaeological site of 2024 in the country.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) added that the arrival of 21 million 203 thousand tourists is expected to traditional accommodation establishments (hotels), which represents an increase of 3.3 percent compared to the summer of 2024.
Of the total, he said, it is estimated that 76.9 percent will be national tourists and 23.1 percent international tourists, who as a whole will generate an economic spill for hotel lodging of 45,600 million pesos.
In addition, he explained that it is projected that 25 million 95 thousand national tourists and 2 million 35 thousand foreign tourists will choose to stay in other types of accommodation, such as homes of family or friends, second homes or through digital platforms.
“This summer, millions of families will visit the destinations of Mexico, generating a historical economic spill that will directly benefit our communities and the national tourism sector.
