In the ITB Berlin 2026, Peru participated with a varied tourist offer focused on sustainability, said the Peruvian Commission for the Promotion of Export and Tourism (Promperú). Together with 15 Peruvian tourism companies, the presence at the important German fair aimed to position the country as an authentic and competitive destination, with proposals that combine nature, culture and social responsibility.

The stand of this edition was inspired by the Amazon – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world – highlighting biodiversity, living culture, adventure and regenerative tourism. A central element of its concept was the multisensory approach: a mural inspired by the biodiversity of the Amazon region, as well as an immersive 360° area with soundscapes, aromas and guided tours, which allowed to experience the natural wealth of Peru in a unique way. This was complemented by a gastronomic program that included showcookings of typical dishes such as ceviche, Amazonian chaufa and chicken chili, as well as typical cocktail shows and Peruvian coffee tastings.

During the first day, representatives of the German business and political world were received, who participated in a guided tour of the Peruvian stand. Among them were Christoph Ploss- coordinator of the German federal government for maritime trade and tourism, Kai Wegner- governing mayor of Berlin, Albin Loidl- president of the German Travel Association and Mario Tobias- representative of the Messe Berlin.

Likewise, as Adventure Travel Partner of ITB Berlin, Promperú offered a keynote lecture at the Green & Blue Tourism Forum on regenerative tourism in Peru and the importance of the segment for the global tourism sector. In addition, it began with the attention of the German public at the second stand in Peru, located in the Adventure Pavilion of the fair, in which a selection of Peruvian sustainable adventure destinations was presented.

The adventure tourism model, which incorporates the community axis, is especially welcomed in the German market, one of the main European source markets for Peru. According to the German tourist profile prepared by Promperú, 82% of German travelers carry out adventure activities during their stay in Peru and about 30% opt for community tourism experiences. This marked interest in active and meaningful travel coincides with the differential of the Peruvian tourist offer and allows German visitors to live authentic and immersive experiences.
