Through a business conference and two familiarization trips, PromPerú connects specialized buyers from North America with the Peruvian tourist offer of adventure and nature.
With the purpose of showing a Peru that goes beyond traditional routes, Peru Beyond the Route was made for the first time, a commercial platform that brings together specialized buyers from the United States and Canada with national tourism entrepreneurs.
The initiative sought to boost the international commercialization of the Peruvian adventure and nature offer, and generate new and valuable business opportunities.
Peru stands out for its tourist and gastronomic offer, and one of the most iconic places in the country is the citadel of Machu Picchu – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The event, developed at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Miraflores, brought together 11 specialized travel agents from North America and 15 Peruvian companies. The commercial appointments made resulted in USD 697.578 in business potential.
As part of the program, from July 11 to 16, international buyers participated in a familiarization trip in Arequipa and Áncash. In these regions they met the Lagoon 69, the Llanganuco lagoon, the town of Chacas, Chavín de Huantar, the Colca Canyon, Chilina Valley, Sibayo, among others, where they carried out activities related to adventure tourism, nature and living culture, with the purpose of incorporating them into their commercial portfolios.
With initiatives such as Peru Beyond the Route, PromPerú, an entity attached to the Mincetur, continues to position the country as a destination where adventure, nature, culture and sustainability are integrated into unique experiences for the international traveler.
Peru, a world reference in adventure tourism
Adventure tourism continues to consolidate itself as one of the fastest growing segments internationally. According to the Profile of the Foreign Tourist entering through Jorge Chávez International Airport (2025), 52% of international visitors carry out adventure activities during their stay, an increase compared to 45% recorded in 2019.
Likewise, the average expenditure of this segment reached USD 1,887, 26% higher than that of the conventional tourist, which shows its important contribution to local economies.
Among the favorite activities are trekking, mountaineering, wildlife observation and cultural experiences, segments in which Peru has a highly competitive offer thanks to its geographical and cultural diversity.
