On its social networks, the New7Wonders Foundation congratulated Bolivia on August 6 for its Independence Day. The message reads as follows:
From the vibrant heights of La Paz to the living heart of the Amazon rainforest, Bolivia is home to places where culture and nature flourish together. Their stories continue to inspire the world through generations.
Today we celebrate Bolivia, home of “La Paz”, one of the New 7 Wonderful Cities and part of the Amazon rainforest, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, chosen through a global campaign with more than 500 million votes from people around the world.
We wish the people of Bolivia a happy Independence Day full of pride and hope.
The New 7 Wonderful Cities, chosen in an official global vote of the New7Wonders foundation in December 2014, are: Beirut (Lebanon), Doha (Qatar), Durban (South Africa), Havana (Cuba), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), La Paz (Bolivia) and Vigan (Philippines).
On the other hand, it should be remembered that on August 6, 1825, Bolivia signed its Act of Independence, proclaiming itself as a free and sovereign state, marking the end of Spanish colonial rule after years of struggle in Upper Peru.
