The Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, announced that, in the third quarter of 2025, the population employed in the tourism sector of Mexico amounted to 4 million 992 thousand people.
“When we strengthen the tourism sector, we promote shared prosperity, because each new job generates opportunities, boosts local economies and contributes to more equitable growth for all,” he stressed.
The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) said that, according to data from the National Survey of Employment and Employment (ENOE) disseminated by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), 9.3% of total jobs in the country correspond to activities linked to the tourism sector.
He added that, in an annual comparison, tourist employment grew 1.8%, which represents 90,477 people more than in the same quarter of 2024. He also stressed that, compared to the immediate previous quarter, tourist employment increased by 3,838 people incorporated into activities related to the sector.
“With this, the sector not only maintains its sustained pace of recovery, but continues to consolidate itself as one of the main generators of employment in the country,” he said.
On the other hand, Rodríguez Zamora stressed that, during this period, the number of people employed in tourism employment was 11.2% above its historical figure before the pandemic, which represents 504,668 more people compared to the record of the first quarter of 2020.
It should be noted that in Mexico, the generators of tourism have to do with its warm beaches, and another of the most visited places is the Chichen Itza, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
