This was stated by Carol Da Rosa, general manager of Iguazu Argentina (company that provides services in the Waterfalls area) who said that “we are clear that we must ensure that the tourist demand in the place does not affect the natural environment that hosts the Iguazu Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the World. We are guardians of this wonderful environment, of this natural heritage of humanity, and we work to make sure that future generations can know and enjoy this place as we enjoy it.”

In that context, he also commented that they are currently working on an urban solid waste program, “we did it in conjunction with National Parks and other companies that also provide services within the Cataratas area, it is a novel waste management,” he detailed.

Da Rosa also commented that from the company they seek to get closer to the local community, “because we know what the Park and the Iguazú Falls mean for the whole community, so one of the goals of the Iguazú Argentina company is to be in constant connection with our community. In that context last year and this year, we have made agreements with educational institutions, accompanying them in improvements,” he said.

And he added “we were working at the Esperanza Institute in Puerto Iguazú, and now we are working at the Hogar San Ramón where several pioneers of the city reside. We also work with some sports institutions, accompanying them in some actions they carry out.”

“And in terms of sustainability we have taken important steps, last year we have certified with a new seal, which is that of Preferred by Nature, which is added to the quality certifications that we already have, such as being the one of ISO 9001, and environmental certifications with ISO 14001 and we add this important seal of Preferred that certifies that we are managing this place responsibly and with sustainability actions at an international level” he added.

On the other hand, he mentioned that in the Cataratas area they continue to develop improvements for the comfort of visitors, “at the Cataratas station we are expanding sanitary facilities and others, we are always expanding services for visitors, to improve the experience of each one when they arrive at the Cataratas area.”

He also said that this is in addition to the improvements of common spaces and walkways, the wheelchairs available for people with reduced mobility, the kennels to leave pets while their owners take the walk through the Park and other services designed for the needs of tourists.

Good expectations for this year

In reference to how it went last year, the manager of Iguazú Argentina said that 2025 was a good year for tourism, they closed with more than 1,532,000 visitors in the Iguazú Falls and this year will not be different, because at the beginning of June they already exceeded 660,000 visitors.

What marks is that the Iguazu Falls continue to lead in the region for both national and foreign visitors. “Without a doubt, these are encouraging data for the sector,” said Carol Da Rosa.

In reference to the number of tourists received last year, he said that “behind the numbers we handle in Cataratas, there is an intense articulated work of the sector, there are gastronomic, hotel, transport and other activities, and this is undoubtedly an engine in the regional economy. We alone in the company have more than 300 collaborators but that without adding all the indirect employment that is added in the company.”

And he added “the work between the public and private sectors generates a lot of employment in the community, so when we talk about the numbers, we are talking about all the people who are involved in the management of visits and tourism in Iguazú. That’s why when the number of tourists increases we get so happy, our goal is that the visits grow more to generate more employment and for people from all over the world to know this Natural Wonder of the world that we have in Misiones. We always say that you can’t take care of what you don’t know, so the more people know our Iguazú Falls, the more people will be willing to take care of the fauna and flora of the place.”

Finally he said “we invite everyone to come and visit us, to live this unforgettable experience, and to know that here we are working every day to provide you with the best services and to make your visit to this place unforgettable.”
