As New7Wonders published on its networks, September 13 is a special day for Jeju Island in South Korea.
On this day of 2012, Jeju was officially inaugurated as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world.
From volcanic landscapes to coastal cliffs and unique ecosystems, Jeju represents the extraordinary forces of nature that have shaped this island over time.
The place was chosen as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature through a global campaign with more than 500 million votes from people around the world.
“Today, we remember September 13, 2012 and celebrate Jeju as part of our shared global memory,” they said from the N7W Foundation.
Komodo Island
September 13 also marks a before and after in the history of Komodo Island.
On this date, in 2013, Komodo was officially inaugurated as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
Its ancestral landscapes, its wild coasts and the legendary dragons of Komodo continue to preserve that shared legacy in a unique place.
This Island was also chosen as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world, through a global campaign that had more than 500 million votes from people from all over the planet.
From the New7Wonders Foundation, organizer of the global contest, they highlighted “today we remember that September 13, 2013 and celebrate Komodo as part of our shared global memory.”
