Travellers can now visit India Covid-stress-free since the Indian government announced that the last pandemic-related travel requirement, the Air Suvidha form, has been removed.
International travellers were required to fill out this health declaration form to present it at the Delhi Airport, and starting now, November 22, they will no longer have to do this nor take a PCR COVID-19 test.
According to the official statement, the updates have been made “in light of sustained declining COVID-19 trajectory and significant advances being made in COVID-19 vaccination coverage both globally as well as in India.”
Just like St.Maarten did a few weeks ago, India finally joins the large group of countries without any COVID-19 travel restrictions. However, there are a few considerations for travellers. Here are the new travel guidelines:
- Travellers are no longer required to be vaccinated nor take a COVID-19 test. Although according to the statement, they should “preferably be fully vaccinated as per the approved primary schedule of vaccination against COVID-19 in their country.”
- Masks are not required during flights, just recommended.
- Passengers with COVID-19 symptoms should be isolated and wear a mask while travelling and go to an isolation facility for treatment.
- Physical distancing is advised.
- At the airport, travellers will pass through thermal screening, and if a traveller shows symptoms will be isolated and designated to a medical facility.
- All travellers are recommended to self-monitor their health, and if they feel sick, they should go to the nearest health facility. A State Helpline Number (1075) is also available.
Now that India has lifted COVID-19-related travel restrictions, more travellers will be interested in visiting this fascinating and enormous country that measures 3,287,263 square kilometres. The rich culture, the gastronomy, the architecture, the landscapes are just some of the many.
The Taj Mahal is one of the main tourist destinations in India, and these new guidelines are expected to result in a rise of tourist arrivals. The immense mausoleum of white marble built in Agra is one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage and has the honour of being amongst the voted New 7 Wonders of the World.
