The Peru 25for25 campaign held by the Latin America Travel Association raised over £17,000 to give financial support to unregistered workers in Machu Picchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

The campaign aimed at supporting Machu Picchu porters and their families, those in charge of guiding tourists through the Inca Trail, since every donation meant £25 destined to cover a month of an essential food parcel for one porter and their family.

According to the official statement, “the campaign PERU 25for25 calls on all those who have trekked the Inca trail and the wider Travel industry to challenge themselves to take on 25 miles (a run, swim, walk or whatever format they prefer) to raise money for this cause with their own fundraising target”. The LATA Foundation informed that the 100% of the £17,000 raised will be destined to the purchase of these food parcels.
