The National Congress of Peru officially honours its New7Wonders achievements by declaring 7 July (the anniversary of Machu Picchu being voted as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, and the official global 7 Wonders Day) and 11 November (the anniversary of the Amazon being voted as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature) as Official National Days for tourism.

The project was presented by Congressman Alexander Lozano in order to promote nationally and internationally the great variety of tourist attractions as well as to encourage the economic reactivation and social development of Perú.

During his presentation, Lozano pointed out that tourism “is an activity that helps diversify the economy, improves citizens’ quality life, broadens educational and cultural knowledge, in addition to preserving cultural heritage and its respective tradition”.
